It's been a good week....

This week has been a good week maybe minus some toddler attitude. The beginning of the week involved getting a new car. We had no intentions of getting one, but Honda had sent us a letter saying that we could opt out of our current lease and get another one at a similar price. Josh went to talk with them just to see what they had to say and by the end of the evening we had a new minivan. We weren't able to pick it up until the following day because it was literally right off the truck, wrapped in plastic and all. I got my first minivan two years ago after I swore I would NEVER drive one. SUV, yes. Minivan, No. Now I can say that I love it and I love my new one even more.

By the middle of the week I was able to enjoy a day off to myself. I had an extra vacation day that I was about to lose which I used to run errands and enjoy some me time. Besides sitting at Honda to sign paperwork, I got some shopping done for our upcoming vacation, caught up on a little Grey's Anatomy, took a nap, and then got my little monster so we could enjoy the sunshine!

Today we are enjoying family time which is the perfect way to spend this chilly Saturday.

Happy Eastover?!

Yes, Happy Eastover. That's what I'm calling it from now on. Seeing that this house is divided (among religions) we tend to combine our holidays. For example, Christmas + Hannukah = Merry Christmakah. Therefore, this holiday weekend becomes (Easter + Passover) = Eastover. Now, with that said, neither myself or Josh are very religious. However, we do want to teach Parker the best of both worlds.

Today we celebrated Easter with my family. Parker awoke to his Easter basket waiting downstairs. He was happy to see new books, flashcards, and CANDY among other things. We then headed to my parents where we got to spend the morning with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew before they headed out. We colored Easter eggs and flew the new kites Parker and Brayden received from the Easter bunny. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing, eating my Mom's delicious food, and watching the Master's. (Congrats, Bubba!)

Now that the Easter hoopla is over we can focus on Passover. It officially started on Friday at Sundown, but we have yet to really sit down with Parker and talk about it. Parker has a couple of books thanks to Grandma Solomon that we will sit down and read! And maybe I can convince Josh to make Latkes for us, mmmmmm!

I hope everybody enjoyed their holiday weekend!

P.S. I'm on Day 4 with no soda. Go me! (See previous post)

30 Day Challenge

Starting today is my 30 day challenge. I am challenging myself not to drink any Coke, Cherry Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, soda in general. I see myself failing miserably at this. Just typing this is making me crave a pop at this exact moment. It is even more difficult knowing I have a fridge full of those tastful goodies downstairs. I know I can go a week or even two as I have done it before, but a month?!?! Lets just see how long I last....

Um, Where did the weekend go?

Well this weekend sure went fast, but what weekend doesn't? This weekend we had some great visitors in from Michigan...Grandma and "Grandpa-Grandpa" (aka Josh's parents)! It's always great having them in town as Parker loves to see and play with his grandparents. On Saturday we gave soccer one more attempt as Parker kept telling us he wanted to play with Grandma. Well needless to say, it once again did not go well. So we decided we gave a good effort, but no more soccer for this year. Now granted he loves kicking the ball around, but he's not really into the "stretching" and "warm-ups" that they do. So instead we got him a soccer ball and net for home. I think he is going to be much happier with this set up. We tried hitting up one of our favorite restaurants for dinner that night (Bub's), but there was a 45 minute wait and that just wasn't happening with my wiggly two and a half year old. Instead, we had Charleston's and it was super yummy! Our plan was to hit up the zoo today as Parker has been asking to go, but we woke up to rain so that was a literal wash. We ended up just relaxing at home and finishing up some of our delicious leftovers from the weekend. We had a great time with Josh's parents and can't wait to see them again.

P.S. We are a just a little over a month away until we are on vacation!!!

Some things just weren't meant to be...

Some things just weren't meant to be this weekend. These would include Parker going to bed at a decent hour (therefore me going to bed at a decent hour), an IU win, and Parker playing soccer. Parker decided not to go to bed until 1:30am Friday night/Saturday morning thanks to a lovely thunderstorm that decided to sit over our house for a few hours. Needless to say because of our lack of sleep and overall grumpiness soccer did not really happen. We came and we went. Maybe next weekend? Due to Little Man being up I did not get to watch one single minute of my Hoosiers. Even though they lost I would have still liked to have seen the game. Oh the sacrifices we as parents make.

We did, however, redeem ourselves today. Everybody was in much better moods as a result of a full night's sleep. We bought Parker's new summer wardrobe of which he is VERY excited to wear to Florida! We had one of our favorite places for lunch (YATS) and overall it was a nice, relaxing Sunday. Despite the lack of sleep and an IU loss, I couldn't love that little munchkin of mine any more and I'm so proud of my HOOSIERS!

Not what I had planned

This weekend was supposed to start with Parker's first day of soccer. Parker had different plans. The night before we were up in the middle of the night with him. Not sure why, but it resulted with me sleeping on the edge of the bed and knees in my back. We got up early and headed off to start a new adventure. Before class started, Parker got to kick around the soccer ball and if I don't say so myself he was pretty good! But then class started and things went downhill very quickly! He wanted nothing to do with sitting in a circle or doing the exercises the coaches had in mind. What resulted was tears and "I want to go home". Home we went. Parker ended up taking a three and a half hour nap so he was clearly tired.  Not how I planned for the day to go, but we will try again next weekend!

On a brighter note, another beautiful weekend and an IU win!! Go Hoosiers! Sweet Sixteen!

Long time, no blog....

Well, I'm giving this blogging thing another go (again!). All is well in the Solomon world. Enjoying this beautiful day with the windows open and college basketball on the television...March Madness!!!

Recently, I started a fundamentals photography class that will teach me to use my "fancy" camera. I bought the camera last year as a 30th birthday present to myself. I was very sad about turning 30 and thought this would cheer me up. For our wedding anniversary, Josh signed me up for this photography class. He then started his new job at ExactTarget and I had to push it back. So now here we are in March and I'm finally getting around to it. It is just a 4 week class on Monday evenings, but it's getting me acquainted with my camera so I don't have to use it on the auto settings. Each week we have homework assignments (I thought I was done with homework!) Below is one of the pictures I took for our assignment this week. This is my extremely adorable and photogenic nephew Brayden....
